How To Become a Surrogate Mother Step By Step
1. Submit your Surrogate Application
Once you submit your online application, we will review it. If your surrogate application meets our requirements, we will send you an intake form so we can get more detailed information about your background. Afterwards we will contact you to set up an interview.
2. Interview
During the interview, we will discuss how the surrogacy process works, your background, and why you want to become a surrogate mother. In the interview process, we will also outline the steps in becoming a surrogate and answer any questions you have relating to surrogacy.
After the interview, you will send us pictures of yourself, and we will then use the information you provided us to create a surrogate mother profile that we will send to our intended parents.
3. Medical Records
Next, you will send us the medical records of your past pregnancies for review by the IVF doctor.
4. Matching with Intended Parents
We will send out your surrogate profile to our intended parents and see if any of them are interested in meeting you. If a prospective parent is interested in your profile, we will set up a video call with them. If both parties want to work together, we have a successful match.
5. Screening
As part of our screening, you have to undergo a psychological evaluation, a background check for you and your partner (if applicable,) and finally, a medical exam at the IVF fertility clinic. This screening process is to confirm that you're suitable to become a surrogate mother.
6. Legal Contract
Once you've been medically cleared and complete all the screening requirements, we'll refer you to a fertility lawyer. This legal professional will help review with you the gestational carrier agreement, which establishes the contract between you and the intended parents. Both you and your lawyer, along with the intended parents and their lawyer, will then read and sign the agreement.
7. Fertility Clinic
Once we have received legal clearance, we will make an appointment for you at the fertility clinic. The doctor will give you medication to prepare your uterus for the embryo transfer, and schedule a transfer date. You will arrive at the clinic on the designated date for the embryo transfer which is typically a quick, painless procedure. After the embryo transfer is complete you will continue to follow the doctor’s instructions regarding bed rest and medications.
8. Pregnancy
Around two weeks later, you will take a blood test to determine if the embryo transfer was successful. If the blood tests indicate pregnancy, we will confirm the pregnancy heartbeat through ultrasound at a later date. During this time, we and intended parents will be in continuous contact with you.
9. Delivery
When you are due to deliver the baby, you will go to the hospital. The intended parents will meet you there and, if you permit, join you in the delivery room as you deliver their baby.
